The Wheeler family's ties to the boating industry began in 1951 when Vern Wheeler's passion for boat racing lead him to open a Mercury outboard dealership. He began by selling and repairing Mercury outboards from the automotive service station he owned and operated. As the marine portion of the business grew, he decided to concentrate on the boating industry.
Vern and Eloise Wheeler established Wheeler's Marine Service and built the first building at our present location in the early 1960's. In addition to Mercury outboards, they also sold boats, trailers and boating accessories. In 1994 Vern and Eloise sold the business to their son Steve who continues to operate the business. Steve is a factory certified technician for Mercury outboards and Mercury Mercruiser stern drives.
